The 2021 Drag Racing season is finally here in New England, so it's time to start figuring your time and money budgets for the year.

If you are a racer and you are reading this, then I don’t have to tell you when and where you need to be the coming season. But if you are a drag racing fan, or thinking of becoming one, then you might benefit from reading this.
First of all, it’s still only April in New England, do remember to dress in layers. It will still be cold in the mornings and once the sun goes down. But if you live here, you should already know that.
Secondly, none of the drag strips plan any major events in April; heck, it could still snow here. By May we are pretty safe and things will definitely pick up next month, but the racing schedules are pretty light in April.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t still some pretty cool drag racing going on, just don’t expect any big money races.
Three tracks have their Opening Day races in April.
New England Dragway had to delay their opening but they did have their first Street Night racing event on Wednesday, April 7. The track hosts Street Nights every Wednesday and Friday in April, and there are Test & Tune events every Saturday during the month. The track is also planning a few actual races during the month for some of the local bracket racing series; Street Fighter and Fast By Gast Bikes on April 17 and Outlaw 10.5, UGSB Index bikes, and Street Fighter on April 18. The Ed Day Charity Challenge will take place on April 24, along with the Super Cars and Central Mass Drag Racers’ first race of the year.
The VP Fuels ET Series kicks off its season on Sunday, April 25. Ten classes of competition begin their sixteen race season, with racing in Super Pro, Pro, Street, Motorcycle/Snowmobile, Junior Street, Junior Dragster, Top Bike/Snowmobile, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street.
Lebanon Valley Dragway, the oldest drag strip that services New England, starts its season on Saturday, April 17 with a Test & Tune session and race for the NODRAMA (Northeast Old Drag Racers and Musclecar Association) series. There are other Test & Tune events and another NODRAMA planned for April, along with an OGS Street Wars event at the end of the month. But the track in West Lebanon, NY doesn’t have its first bracket points race until May 2.
New Oxford Dragway, the 1/8th mile drag strip in Oxford, Maine, hosts it season opener on April 17, with a Test & Tune event. They begin their track bracket points program on the following Friday night, April 23, and then again on April 30.
Winterport Dragway is even further north in Maine, and they hold off opening their facility until May 9, which is also Mother’s Day this year.
You can take a look at all of the upcoming events on the Northeast Drag Racing Calendar, here.
You will also find links to all of the tracks at the top of this page.
