New Englanders Dominate at the 8th Annual TascaParts.com NHRA New England Nationals presented by Bandero Premium Tequila

by Neil Van Zile

Obviously, the 8th Annual TascaParts.com NHRA New England Nationals presented by Bandero Premium Tequila at New England Dragway is the big story from this past weekend. Northeast Drag News will feature a story later this week by veteran reporter Billy Anderson.

But there is a lot of coverage of this event elsewhere. The fact is other media outlets can cover an event like an NHRA National event much better than we can. And our focus here at Northeast Drag News is really on the New England-based racers.

The local and regional racers did not disappoint this year. Out of a total of nine racing classes, New England-based racers won four and runner-upped in one other. In fact, three classes featured All-New England final rounds. And even though John Force took the top spot in Funny Car, Rhode Island native Bob Tasca III is still in first place in the point standings.

But most of the other tracks held racing events as well.

After the wet weather ended racing early on Saturday, Lebanon Valley Dragway was very busy on Sunday, with more than a couple of the bracket racers from New England Dragway making the uphill westward tow. With 112 entries in Pro Eliminator and 98 cars in the Super Eliminator field, both classes featured seven rounds of racing.

New Oxford Dragway was closed this past weekend to make room for a big event at the Oxford Plains Speedway.

Winterport Dragway had racing both Saturday and Sunday, with the Gassah Guys running on Saturday along with a T&L sponsored gamblers race. Sunday featured a weekly bracket program.

The NEORVCA played host to Race #3 in their 2021 New England Sand Drags series at the Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds in Hiram, Maine. Northeast Drag News was on hand to take some photos and we had a chance to speak with some of the members. This group has been running sand drags since 1984 and has class eliminators for all kinds of off-road vehicles and competitors of all ages.
